Shanghai is so great but SOOOOOO DIRTY! I just got back from a run with Sunny, and my hair and skin feels like I just got back from Tijuana, haha- feels like home! I have a filthy layer of soot covering me, but I'm still all smiles. This is Justyn by the way. Sunny and I went for our run tonight, got lost, then found our way back. One of the good things about getting lost is finding new shopping spots to hit up- if you can remember where they are later... we found some small, high fashion shops that had great prices. Destination "Birthday Dress for Sunny" tomorrow!
Updates are as follows;
I now have an agency representing me. They are finding me work doing modeling, TV and film. I'm interested to see how it goes. This is not what I intended on doing here, but it should be fun, and I can use the money for sure! I met with them on friday and they got my 'modeling card' to me today. They move quickly here with this industry it seems. We shall see....
Sunny, Jamie (our roommate) and I went to the "Pervert Party" on Saturday night, dressed in next to nothing. (see photo). It was loads of fun, but only because WE WERE the fun. Seriously, I can have fun with these girls and a dance floor no matter what the surroundings consist of- BUT the douche bag french idiots seem to unintentionally succeed in annoying us to the point of Sunny telling one to stay away. At this point, I don't plan on dating while I'm here. The expat guys are a real turn off, and I have enough volunteer work, yoga and adventures with Sunny to keep me stimulated and occupied for quit some time, though it would be easier to mend the broken heart with a male distraction.....ha! Oh and on a side note- As we were walking to our taxi, I went out a gate, that apparently comes down quite quickly. I was strutting with purpose, probably trying to be all sexy for the German boys following behind us- when all of a sudden- BAM! Gate to the face! It took me down man, and I mean hard. It was such a spectacle that all 6 people in the area came rushing up to me to see if I was okay- as they were certain I was NOT. All I was concerned about was finding my fake eyelash that had been ripped off during battle. Sometimes I really entertain myself, and I was stoked other folks got to witness this comedic event.
Sunday we got amazing massages by the cutest chinese guys, who were fully entertained by our blonde hair and tattoos. (both are unusual and infrequently seen in Shanghai, the locals are constantly taking our pictures from a distance....It's kind of endearing)
Ummmmm 1 hour-full body massage for 15 bucks? I'll take 2 a day, thanks.
Monday I made my first trip to the Orphanage I am volunteering at. The kids are magical and full of life and love! There are over 20 kids at this one, the oldest is about 2 years old- and they all have cleft palette conditions. They are from small, poor villages outside of Shanghai, where their mothers abandoned them because they can't afford the necessary surgeries the babies will need to survive. I am in love with all of them, they melt my heart. I get to see them 2-3 times a week, just enough time to fall more in love with them and want to take them home with me- ha!
Sunny's birthday is this weekend, and I've themed it "Go big or go home!". I am looking forward to witnessing massive amounts of inappropriate behavior....Another perk of being sober- I get to watch the shitshows unfold:)
Hope this kept you guys entertained and you feel full of Shanghai life! If anybody wants to hear more about certain subjects or has any suggestions or comments- leave them below! We love them:)
Peace and Love,
Justyn
